Your Offers
When starting a printable business it is crucial to determine your offers. A few considerations include:
- Who your audience is, their problems, and your solutions.
- Your printable themes & types.
- Your branding. From colours and fonts to your values and brand voice.
- The programs or software you will use to create your printables.
Not sure where to begin? This is my simple strategy when starting new products. Make sure you grab a couple pages of paper, or a notebook!
- Jot down all of your ideas, everything that comes to mind.
- Star, circle, underline the ideas you want to explore deeper.
- Look for connections between different ideas. Then connect ideas together with lines and arrows.
- Use highlighters to visually categorize.
- Choose one of the categories and it's connections, then choose one printable you could create.
After deciding your printable, choose your software. Once you've decided on your software you can create a blank page with your font choices, colour palette, elements, and words or phrases. Then create a template of your new printable product, for example a greeting card template or planner template, and begin filling in with your ideas and choices!
Top Tips
- Use PLR templates as a guide. I have linked a few of my favorites in the next steps lesson.

- Use Canva to create your printables. I've used Canva to create greeting cards, wall art, planners, workbooks, activity books, other printables, and even courses. (Rural Meanings is not associated or affiliated with Canva).
Your Shop & Email
After creating your printable(s) you will need a shop and to generate traffic. You have many options for shops you can use an online marketplace, website, or ecommerce platform. And for generating traffic you can use a variety of options including SEO, social media, and email marketing.
- Use your own domain and a business email address to establish yourself as a professional. You can purchase domains & business emails with NameCheap (Rural Meanings is not associated or affiliated with NameCheap).
- Links to the ecommerce platform & email marketing I use for Rural Meanings can be found in the resources lesson.
Your Policies
This is NOT legal advice, and remains your responsibility to determine the best action for your business.
Before starting your business it is very important to have legal policies in place. A few to highly consider are a privacy policy, disclaimer, disclosure, terms & conditions, accessibility statement, and if you are using AI an AI Generated Content Disclaimer.
Then depending on your offers others to consider are printables terms & conditions, course and membership agreements, affiliate and referral agreements, and contracts.
